On Saturday, Jigawa State Governor, Umar Namadi suspended his Special Adviser on Salary and Pension, Alhaji Bashir Ado Kazaure, following a controversial media report claiming the governor approved a new minimum wage of ₦70,000 for workers in the state.
Kazaure’s suspension was contained in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Malam Bala Ibrahim and made available to newsmen in Dutse.
Saturday Telegraph reports that Kazaure’s suspension comes after an audio clip surfaced online in which he denied involvement in the purported report, sent to a local radio station.
According to the SSG, the government found the special Adviser’s report premature and concerning, saying the committee tasked with reviewing the appropriate minimum wage are yet to submit its findings.
