As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, Trace in the City talent hunt winner, Micy D, has been awarded the grand prize for the talent show. Micy D, a recent Agriculture graduate from the University of Abuja, triumphed over other contestants during the 4-week Trace in the City tour where the train visited seven cities that include Port Harcourt, Uyo, Abuja, Akure, Calabar, Ibadan and Lagos.
Popularly referred to as ‘Abuja boy,’ Micy D received a brand-new Suzuki S-PRESSO car, courtesy of Suzuki by CFAO and TRACE, along with a recording session with Grammy-winning producer KEL-P and additional promotional packages from Trace. Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Sam Onyemelukwe, MD of Trace Anglophone West Africa, congratulated Micy D and outlined Trace’s support for the young artist.
“He will record three tracks with Kel P, and we will select the best one or more if they all meet our standards,” said Onyemelukwe. “We are also arranging a distribution deal with The Orchard to ensure his music reaches every DSP playlist. Additionally, we will shoot one music video for him and possibly more, airing it across the entire Trace network, including fifteen TV channels in Africa and fourteen outside, and reaching over eighty million active viewers.
“The Orchard has a mentoring team, and we are surrounding him with experienced artists like Kel P and DJ Neptune.” Aissatou Diouf, General Manager of CFAO Suzuki, said, “I am thrilled that this project has come to fruition. The collaboration with Trace has been fantastic. Micy D expressed his gratitude, saying,
“I am very grateful and honored to be here. I’ve been working hard, and God sees my efforts. Big shoutout to Trace and the sponsors. I am ready to give my best now that the opportunity is here.” The Trace in the City tour 2023 kicked off on October 13, 2023, and concluded on November 8, 2023.
Over 18,860 youths attended the events across seven cities, featuring performances from over 30 music artists, including Skiibii, Falz, Odumodu Blvck, DJ Neptune, and Shody the Turn up King
