On Tuesday, several passengers sustained different degree of injuries when two Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) buses collided at the Pleasure axis of Iyana Ipaja Area in Lagos State.
The accident occurred when one BRT bus, in a bid to avoid hitting a commercial motorcyclist illegally using the restricted BRT lane, swerved and collided head-on with another BRT bus traveling in the opposite direction.
Eyewitnesses reported that the motorcyclist, who was carrying passengers, was unlawfully driving on the BRT corridor, forcing the bus driver to take sudden evasive action. This maneuver resulted in a collision between the two buses, causing significant injuries to many passengers on board.

Emergency responders rushed to the scene and transported injured passengers to nearby hospitals for urgent medical care.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the incident in a statement released on Wednesday.
LASEMA spokesperson, Nosa Okunbor, detailed the agency’s response, noting that they received a distress call through the 767/112 Toll-Free Emergency lines at 11:39 p.m. on Tuesday.
Upon arrival at the scene, the agency’s Response Team found the two BRT buses involved in a serious collision, with registration numbers not immediately available.
Okunbor confirmed that while there were no fatalities, the accident resulted in varying degrees of injuries among passengers.
However, all injured individuals had been taken to hospitals before LASEMA’s team arrived on the scene.
The agency has since launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
