Manchester City kickstart their 2024-25 Champions League campaign with an enticing showdown against Serie A champions Inter Milan at the Etihad Stadium today.
The last meeting between these sides culminated in Manchester City lifting their first Champions League title and, after a flawless start to the season, the Citizens are backed to secure victory once more Pep Guardiola’s side have faltered at times this season, with Yoane Wissa’s first-minute goal on Saturday being the third time they have conceded first this season, but they waste little time in getting into their stride and they can transfer that form to the Champions League on Wednesday.
Last season’s runaway Serie A champions have not started the 2024/25 campaign with the same vigour as their hosts, although they do remain a threat going forward.
Their 1-1 draw away to Monza on Sunday made it two wins and two draws from their opening four matches, with both those stalemates coming on the road. They have scored nine goals across this quartet, though, so they have every chance of troubling Manchester City’s seemingly fragile backline.
Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika is expected to be on parade for Club Brugge when they host Borussia Dortmund in their opener. Onyedika, who was close to leaving the Belgian side in the summer, has some experience in the Champions League and will hope to help his side pass the test from Dortmund.
