Man Bagged One -Year Jail Term For Cloning Rivers Govt Facebook Account

A Port Harcourt Magistrate Court sitting in Rivers State has convicted and sentenced a man to one-year in prison or community service for fraud.

New Telegraph reports that the suspect, P. Chidera and two others are on trial for cloning Facebook accounts and utilizing them for fraudulent purposes.

Delivering the judgement on Thursday, Chief Magistrate Rita Oguguo’s ruling found Chidera guilty of cloning the Facebook account of Tammy Danagogo, the Secretary to the Rivers State Government, and using it to defraud the public.


The magistrate stated that the prosecution had successfully proven the fraud accusations against the accused.

Chidera was sentenced to one-year in prison or community service, which involves sweeping, grass cutting, and drainage cleaning from the Rivers State Government House’s back gate on Jumbo Street in Old GRA Port Harcourt to the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital.

The community service will be conducted four times per week for three months.
