Man arrested for raping 10-yearold girl in mother’s room

A middle aged man, Soji Bakare at the weekend entered the room of a woman in Akure and raped her 10 year primary school female pupil.

 

It was learnt that Bakare, popularly known as SOJ, defiled the minor at her parents’ house at Aiyeyemi street, Isolo area of Akure, the Ondo State capital when her mother was at the nearby market where she sells soup ingredients.

The suspect, who is living at Edo lodge area of Oke Ijebu Akure, usually visits Isolo to see his wife who sells around the area.

 

The mother of the victim, Mrs Yinka Romoke Babalola said the suspect was caught in the act and he had been apprehended by men of the A’Division Police Station, Akure. Mrs Babalola explained that her child had been taken to hospital by the police for medical treatment and examination.

 

The woman who said her husband travelled out of Akure, appealed  to the police authorities, the Ondo State government and civil society organisations to come to her aid so that the suspect SOJ would be brought to book for allegedly raping her child.

 

The State Police Public Relations officer, PPRO, Mrs Funmi Odunlami, said the suspect had been arrested, saying the case would be transferred to the state CID for further investigation.

 

The Police spokesperson noted that SOJ would be charged to court immediately because of the gravity of the offence
