Man Arraigned For Defiling 8-Year-Old Girl In Kaduna

A 32-year-old businessman, Raphael Moses has been remanded in a correctional facility by an Upper Customary Court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, on charges of defiling an eight-year-old girl.

New Telegraph reports that the operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) accused the defendant of defilement.

Earlier, Mr Marcus Audu, NSCDC Prosecutor, informed the court that the girl’s mother, Catherine Denis, reported the case to the Corp’s headquarters in Kafanchan on April 22.

Audu claimed that Moses enticed the girl into his room and defiled her.

He explained that Moses was apprehended by some neighbours, who transported him to the Salama Sexual Assault Referral Centre.

Audu stated that the offence violated Section 259 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law.

The judge, Mr Michael Bawa, who did not accept Moses’ plea, ordered that the case file be referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

He however adjourned the case until May 19 to seek advice from the DPP.
