A 30-year-old man, Motunrayo Olaniyi, has allegedly stabbed his newlywed wife, Olajumoke, to death during an argument at Amazing Grace Estate, Elepe, Ikorodu, Lagos State.
The tragic incident reportedly took place on Friday after a heated altercation between the couple.
According to a statement released by the Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, Olaniyi stabbed his 25-year-old wife multiple times, locked her in the room, and set it on fire.

He then inflicted wounds on himself after the act.
Responding to a distress call, the Police officers arrived at the scene and extinguished the fire.
The Police later discovered Olajumoke’s lifeless body with severe abdominal wounds.
Olaniyi was rescued, treated at a hospital, and later taken into police custody.
Hundeyin stated, “The deceased’s body has been deposited at Ikorodu General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
“Investigation into the incident is ongoing.”
