The initiators of Twins Tourism, Ke- hinde and Taiwo Oguntoye have been bestowed with the award for Cultural Ambassador by the Governor of Oyo State, Oluseyi Makinde. The occasion was at the dinner and award ceremony organised by the state government to recognise and celebrate stakeholders in the tourism industry at the International Tourism Summit held in Ibadan.
The Oguntoye twin brothers received the Governor’s Tourism Award for their special contribution to the tourism development of the Pace Setter State at the special ceremony held at the International Conference Centre, University of Ibadan. Their award was classified as Special Contribution to Oyo State Tourism Award – Cultural Event Ambassador.
The Twins known as the Most Famous Twins in African Tourism had over the years initiated and developed various creative events and activities that had immense- ly projected and set Oyo State on the global tourism map. Notably among others is the famous annual World Twins Festival, Igboora, which is the largest gathering of twins and multiple births in this part of the world.
Other awardees include; Engr. Dotun Sanusi of Ilaji Resorts, Evangelist Ajibola Ogunkeyede of U -Fit -Fly, Dr. Adebayo Faleke, Erelu Funmi Rotiba and Royal Entertainment Cruise Eleyele. Makinde while congratulating the awardees, charged them to see the honour as a call for more work in making Oyo State a preferred tourism destination. Receiving the Cultural Event Ambas- sador from the Deputy Governor of the State, Abdulraheem Adebayo Lawal, the Oguntoyes appreciated Almighty God for His infinite mercy and favour over their lives and also the governor for the friendly environment created for tourism to thrive in the State.
The duo also appreciate the effort of the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun, for his concerted efforts in promoting culture and tourism in the State. “This is a great honour for us, receiving this award at our birth month and while we are celebrating the 10th year anniver- sary of our radio show. We dedicate it to all multiple births, the media, friends and family,’’ they said.”
