Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has assured residents affected by the Ibadan Circular Road project that no further demolitions of houses or properties will take place along the route.
Speaking on Monday to a large group of protesters at the Oyo State Government Secretariat in Agodi, Ibadan, Makinde reiterated that all existing structures within the 150-meter corridor of the road will be incorporated into the government’s plans.
The governor’s assurance came in response to concerns raised by residents over potential demolitions related to the ongoing road project.

Carrying placards and banners, the protesters appealed for a halt to the planned extension of the corridor to 500 meters, which they feared would lead to additional property losses.
Makinde reassured the crowd that no new developments, including the laying of foundations or construction of buildings, should occur within the designated corridor.
He emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring that residents already affected by the project will not face further disruptions.
Makinde pledged that his administration would prioritize the welfare of affected residents while continuing with the road development aimed at boosting infrastructure in the state.
