Let’s Synergise To Fight Against Drug Abuse, Sule Tells North Central Govs

Chairman of the North central Governors Forum, Abdullahi Sule, has called on his colleagues in the geopolitical zone to work in synergy towards eradication of drug abuse in the Zone.

He made the call during a 2-day sensitization workshop on the abuse of narcotic drugs for selected female groups and youths in the North Central Zone held in Lafia, the Nasarawa State Capital.

Sule, who is the Nasarawa State governor, expressed concern over the current spate of women and youth’s involvement in drug abuse and the effects therein, saying strong synergy among governors in the zone was what was needed to tackle the menace collectively.

According to him, tackling drug abuse and drug related crimes would bring about peace and development in the geopolitical zone; promising that he would personally take the campaign with the 19 northern state governors during their forthcoming forum meeting.

He lauded organisers of the programme for the choice of Nasarawa State as the host and promised to support them to achieve the set objectives.

Speaking at the event, Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Narcotic Drugs, Hon. Abbass Adigun Agboworin, expressed worry over the devastating effect of drug abuse in the country, saying the situation if not checked could lead to low productive and economic growth of the nation.
