Suspected herdsmen have killed two persons in different communities in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The victims, Mrs. Lucia Ayelabola, a farmer, and Sunday Oladele, an okada rider popularly known as ‘Arogidigba’, were killed by suspected herdsmen in Ago Oyinbo and Igbatoro Familugba Communities in Akure North Area of the state.
The lawmaker representing Akure North, Hon Kola Ologede strongly denounced the gruesome murder in his constituency and asked security agencies to bring the culprits to book.
In a statement personally signed by the lawmaker, he described the killing as “Dastardly, ruthless, and reprehensible,” and demanded immediate action from security agencies to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
Ologede offered his heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families and pledged to work with authorities to provide support and protection to the affected communities.
The lawmaker also urged the state and federal governments to address the root causes of herder-farmer clashes and find a lasting solution to the menace of Fulani herdsmen attacks in the state.
His words “The killing and shooting of my constituents is a sad and disturbing development that must be condemned by all. I urge the security agencies to act swiftly to prevent further attacks and ensure justice is served”.
