The Lagos State Taskforce on Wednesday announced the arrest of six suspects involved in the illegal sale and display of petroleum products in the state. These suspects were caught hawking petrol to motorists at exorbitant rates in various parts of Lagos.
Chairman of the Task Force, CSP Adetayo Akerele, stated that the current fuel scarcity is no excuse for individuals to exploit Lagosians by purchasing large quantities of petrol and reselling it at inflated prices.
He emphasized that these illegal activities will not only make it difficult for motorists to get fuel but also put people in danger because petrol is a highly flammable product.
Akerele warned that the Task Force will not tolerate these illegal activities and will take strict measures against those involved. He urged members of the public to report any suspicious activities related to the illegal sale and storage of petroleum products.
According to the task force, the six suspects, Toibu Ishola (44), Yakubu Olayiwola (34), Adebayo Rasak (29), Maria Balogun (50), Motunrayo Dosunmu (43), and John Ogunfowokan will soon be charged in court.
The Lagos State Task Force vowed to monitor the situation and take necessary actions to ensure the safety and well-being of Lagosians.
