Ahead of resumption for the new school session in September 2024, Rose of Sharon Parish (ROS), under the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG,) has revealed plans to empower school children in primary and secondary schools across Lagos State.
This philanthropic gesture of the group, tagged; Back to School Programme, is according to the group, ‘‘designed to equip our primary and secondary school children as they prepare to go back to school in the new school year in September.
‘‘It is targeted at children of members of the Rose of Sharon Parish and children from our immediate community in Ikeja GRA and our immediate neighbourhood community, Shogunle.
‘‘Items/kits provided include: school bags, water bottles, food flasks, exercise/note books, pens and pencils, maths sets and socks amongst others.’’
“This is as it further added that the event would hold on Saturday August 31, 2024, the Redeemed Christian Church of God – Rose of Sharon Parish (ROS) GRA, Ikeja.
Pastor (Mrs) Chichi Obiagwu, who heads the women’s ministry of the parish disclosed that between 1,000 and 2, 000 children would be catered for with major focus on less privileged children around the community where the church is located and also not leaving out members of the church’s children department.
She expressed her appreciation to members of the church for rising up to the occasion and donating generously towards the items required.
“This, she said has already made the programme a huge success and put a smile on the faces of the children.
