A 43-year-old resident of Lagos, Adekunle Abodunrin, appeared before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday on allegations of defrauding a businessman, Kasim Saka, of N1.8 million.
Abodunrin pleaded not guilty to a three-counts of fraud, stealing, and breach of peace. The Prosecutor, ASP Clement Okuoimose said that Abodunrin committed the offenses on August 2, 2023, at Owode Plank Market, Luri Bus stop, Badagry, Lagos.
According to Okuoimose, Abodunrin received the N1.8 million from Complainant, Mr Kasim Saka, under the pretense of purchasing planks from Ondo State, but refused to fulfill his obligation.
Instead, Abodunrin allegedly converted the funds to personal use. Okuoimose further stated that Abodunrin’s actions constituted a breach of peace, as they were likely to cause harm or disturbance to the complainant.
