Lagos Impounds 241 Unlicensed Vehicles

The Lagos State Govern- ment has announced that it impounded 241 unlicensed vehicles, in accordance with the State Transport Sector Reform Law (TSRL) 2018.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, had warned motorists against driving unregistered vehicles. He emphasised that such vehicles pose a challenge to law enforcement efforts in tracking stolen vehicles and those involved in criminal activities.

Citing Section 16 of the TSRL 2018, Mr. Osiyemi reiterated that driving an unregistered vehicle is a legal offense. He also revealed that a fake dealer number plate was found on one of the impounded vehicles, indicating ongoing investigations to apprehend the perpetrators.

The Commissioner urged mo- torists to comply with the state’s traffic regulations to ensure a safe and secure environment for all road users.
