The Lagos State Government has taken a decisive step towards maintaining law and order in the state, as 14 suspects have been arrested for allegedly harassing passengers in the Oshodi area.
According to the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the suspects will be prosecuted under the Lagos State environmental law.
In a statement released on Thursday via his verified X handle, Wahab confirmed that the suspects were apprehended by operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps at Terminal 3 in Oshodi.
“The arrested miscreants have been profiled and will face prosecution in accordance with the state’s environmental law,” he said.
This move is part of the state government’s efforts to ensure a cleaner, safer, and more orderly environment for citizens and visitors.
The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) and other relevant agencies are working together to tackle environmental and social issues in the state.
“By taking swift action against those who harass passengers, the Lagos State Government is demonstrating its commitment to protecting the rights and safety of its citizens.”
In a related development, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) and the Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA) have launched a joint media campaign to ban open defecation along the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, particularly targeting the median from OPIC Plaza to Otedola Bridge.
