Lagos Cracks Down On Environmental Offenders, Shuts Churches, Hotels

In an effort to enforce compliance with the State Environmental Laws of 2017, the Lagos State Government has sealed off several businesses and religious centers in the Ojo Local Government Area of the state.

The crackdown, carried out by the State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), targeted establishments flouting the state’s stringent environmental standards.

Among the affected establishments are churches, hotels, bars, an event center, and a recycling company. LASEPA’s General Manager Babatunde Ajayi, emphasised the agency’s unwavering commitment to upholding environmental regulations across the state.

“We will not hesitate to take necessary actions against any establishment that fails to comply with the state’s environmental regulations,” Ajayi warned, adding, “We urge all businesses to take responsibility for their environmental impact and adhere to the set standards.”

According to Ajayi, “the enforcement operation is a clear indication of the state government’s resolve to protect the environment and ensure a sustainable future for its citizens.”
