Lagos Association Celebrates Artisans’ Day

It was a grand event last weekend as the the Tradesmen and Artisans Association of Nigeria in the Itire- Ikate Local Council Development Area rolled out the drums to celebrate Artisans’ day. The event which held at the council’s Secretariat was a true reflection of artistic proficiency, touch of talents and candour.

Members of the association, all decked in brown Ankara fabrics, as they celebrated the special day with fun and great excitement. The chairman of the association, Ambassador Ibrahim Lawal, said the leadership of the association is dedicated to the idea of mentoring young artisans and also collaborating with industry partners in order to create a community of artisans that thrives on mutual support and growth.

Lawal also expressed appreciation to the chairman of Itire-Ikate LCDA, Hon. Ahmed Apatira, for the support and understanding, since he became the chairman of the artisans in the local council. “As we move forward, we face new challenges and opportunities. We must continue to adapt, innovate and push boundaries. “We must embrace new technology, sustainable practices and inclusive approaches.

We must also preserve our heritage and traditional skills, while making them relevant to modern times,” he stated. Speaking on his plan to create more opportunities for the artisans in the local council, Hon. Ahmed Apatira, commended the chairman of the association, Ibrahim Lawal, for his efforts in making a huge difference in the lives of young and budding artisans in the council area.
