A road accident on the Lagos Third Main- land Bridge yester- day, claimed the life of one person and left eight others seriously injured.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident involved two Mazda commercial buses with registration numbers LND 624 YE and EKY 804 YH. The buses were traveling from the Adeniji Adele axis towards Iyana-Oworonshoki when they collided near the Ilaje area.
Reckless driving was cited as a contributing factor, as both buses were allegedly speeding at the time of the crash. Emergency responders from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), swiftly arrived at the scene, rescuing the in- jured passengers and transporting them to Gbagada General Hospital via Lagos State Ambulance Services (LASAMBUS).
The victims sustained serious fractures and are receiving medical attention. Police operatives from the Bariga and Alonge stations secured the area to facilitate rescue operations.
In a statement, LASTMA commiserated with the family of the deceased and reiterated its commitment to road safety. The agency urged drivers to adhere to speed limits and exercise caution to prevent similar tragedies. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of responsible driving and road safety measures.
