Ladoja Drags Makinde, Olubadan To Court Over Newly Crowned Obas

Following the dispute over the chieftaincy title, the Otun Olubadan of Ibadan land, Rashidi Ladoja, has taken the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, and his ten recently elevated beaded crown-wearing Obas to court.

New Telegraph reports that last Thursday Ladoja dragged them before the Oyo State High Court at Ibadan’s Ring Road.

It would be recalled that Governor Makinde on June 22, 2023, approved the elevation of the chiefs on the advice of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Lekan Balogun, who serves as the mandated and consenting authority.

You might also remember that the governor gave the new Obas the staff of office on Friday.

The new Obas include Owolabi Olakulehin; Tajudeen Ajibola; Eddy Oyewole; Lateef Adebimpe; Biodun Kola-Daisi; Kola Adegbola; Hamidu Ajibade; Olubunmi Isioye; Bayo Akande and Abiodun Azeez while Ladoja, who had already refused the promotion was notably absent from the ceremony.
