Kidnapped Benin ASUU Zonal Coordinator Escaped – Edo Police

The Edo State Police Command on Monday said the kidnapped Benin Zonal Coordinator of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Prof Monday Igbafe has escaped from his captors.

Recall that Igbafe was kidnapped on Saturday night while driving into his home at Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of the State.

His abductors were said to have taken him to an unknown destination inside his ash colour Toyota Highlander with registration number ABJ 180 JQ.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Command, SP Joel Yamu, when contacted said the Command is aware of the kidnap, but that the victim escaped from his abductors, adding that the police is after the suspects.

He said, “The Command is aware of the report. Operatives of the Ekpoma Division mounted pressure on the kidnappers which led to the escape of the victim.
We are on the trail of the suspects to ensure they are brought to book pls.”
