The Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun will on Monday, September 30, swear in 87 newly appointed Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs).
This ceremony which will take place at the main courtroom of the Supreme Court will mark the official commencement of the 2024/2025 legal year of the Court.
Dr Festus Akande, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Supreme Court made this announcement in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja.
He also highlighted that the special court session would feature the Acting CJN delivering a state-of-the-judiciary address.

According to him, this address will focus on the performance of the judiciary during the 2023/2024 legal year.
Key stakeholders from Nigeria’s legal sector, including the Attorney General of the Federation, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), and the Chairman of the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN), will also deliver speeches concerning the state of the justice system.
The ceremony, starting at 10:00 AM, follows the resumption of the Supreme Court from its annual vacation on September 23, 2024.
