Kano Gov Seeks N99bn Supplementary Budget Approval

The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has formally requested the State House of Assembly to approve a supplementary budget amounting to ₦99,221,503,569.90 for 2024.

Governor Yusuf’s request was read during a plenary session by the Speaker, Ismail Falgore, who indicated that the proposal aligns with Sections 122 (A) and (B) of the 1999 Constitution, aimed at expediting the implementation of priority projects that will enhance the welfare of the citizens of Kano State.

The supplementary budget allocates ₦33,761,174,555.64 for personnel expenses, ₦34,492,888,103.44 for overhead costs, and ₦30,969,440,940.80 for capital investments.

Following the governor’s presentation, the State Commissioner for Planning and Budget, Musa Shanono, briefed pressmen that the original budget for 2024 was set at ₦437,338,312,787.

If the supplementary budget receives approval, the total budget for 2024 will increase to ₦536,559,816,357.84.

Shanono further elaborated that the supplementary budget would facilitate the payment of the new minimum wage, among other essential expenditures.

He also emphasized the government’s dedication to promoting infrastructural development, enhancing human capital, and improving the health and education sectors.
