Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, on Wednesday issued a directive for the immediate closure of all accounts held by Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in the state.
Governor Yusuf gave this order during a meeting held at the Government House with the Chairman of the Kano State Internal Revenue Service and the heads of various MDAs.
Governor Yusuf’s decision is aimed at tightening control over the state’s finances, ensuring that all government revenue is properly accounted for and directed towards the development of Kano State.

By consolidating the financial management under a single authority, the government hopes to eliminate inefficiencies and potential mismanagement of public funds.
During the meeting, the Governor emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in managing the state’s resources.
He stated that the closure of the MDA accounts is a critical step towards achieving these goals.
According to him, this move is expected to centralize the collection and allocation of revenue, allowing for better oversight and utilization of funds for projects and services that benefit the people of Kano State.
In line with the directive, the Accountant-General of Kano State has been tasked with implementing this directive immediately and to ensure that all existing accounts of the MDAs are closed without delay.
