The All Progressives Congress (APC) has attacked a leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso for criticising the method adopted by the Federal Government in distributing food items to residents in Kano State.
In a statement, Kano APC Chairman Abdullahi Abbas stressed the Federal Government’s commitment to reducing hunger in the country but claimed that the NNPP government is frustrating the efforts.
He said President Bola Tinubu approved several palliative measures for poor households and vulnerable, but claimed that the officials in charge of the distribution are diverting them.
Abbas cited instances of senior NNPP government officials being allegedly involved in the diversion of palliatives. The opposition party asked Kwankwaso to tell Governor Abba Yusuf to probe the alleged diversion of palliatives and ensure that perpetrators are prosecuted.
He said: “The reconstituted committee by the Federal Government is under the leadership of the Deputy Senate PresidentBarque Jibrin, with membership from the APC, NNPP, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), InterParty Advisory Council (IPAC), Senator Rufa’i Hanga (NNPP), Senator Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila (NNPP), members of the House of Representatives, Aminu Abdussalam, the state deputy governor, traditional and religious leaders, among others.”
