The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Benjamin Kalu has mourned the passing of Senator Ayogu Eze.
Paying a condolence visit to the late Senator Eze’s family in Abuja on Friday, the Deputy Speaker expressed shock and sadness over his death.
According to a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Levinus Nwabughiogu on Saturday, Kalu recalled Senator Eze’s active roles in politics especially since the dawn of civilian rule in 1999, saying he made invaluable contributions to the growth of the Nigerian democracy.
As a former Senate Spokesman, the Deputy Speaker said that Eze discharged his duties with due diligence and professional dexterity, adding that he will be greatly missed.
Consoling Mrs Nkechi Ayogu-Eze, the late Senator’s wife and other members of the family, Kalu urged them to take solace in the fact that the deceased left a legacy of hard work, honesty and decency.
The Deputy Speaker who pledged his support to the family also prayed to God Almighty to grant eternal rest to the soul of Senator Ayogu Eze.
