Tragedy struck Oyo State on Saturday when some masked gunmen suspected to be Yoruba Nation agitators invaded the Oyo State Secretariat in an effort to take over the House of Assembly complex.

Saturday Telegraph learnt that the suspected agitators who attacked the secretariat in the morning attempted to take over the House of Assembly building Complex.

The masked gunmen, who were dressed in military uniforms, engaged in a heated gun battle with members of the Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN), codenamed Amotekun, the Police, and Operation Burst men before being subdued.

According to sources, the suspects took over the assembly complex premises and flew their flag before backup security personnel arrived.

However, the presence of police, Amotekun, and other security people had brought the situation under control, as of the time of filling this report.

Some of the suspected agitators have been arrested as all routes leading to the secretariat have been closed as a result of the incident.
