JUST-IN: Inauguration Of 10th Ogun Assembly Stalled Over Security Threat

The inuaguration of the 10 Legislature of the Ogun State House of Assembly has again suffered a setback following a security threat.

Assembly members-elect, dignitaries, well-wishers and journalists who had arrived at the Assembly Chambers in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta were ordered out of the premises over an alleged security threat.

The development threw the entire people at the premises into anxiety as scores of security operatives took over the Chambers.

The 10th Legislature was expected to be inaugurated today (Tuesday) after a failed attempt last Monday.

New Telegraph reported that the leadership crisis had forced the House to postpone its inuaguration last week.

The postponement, it was gathered, followed an unresolved battle against the candidate anointed as the Speaker by Governor Abiodun.

While the State Governor is allegedly disposed to returning the immediate past Speaker of the House, Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, feelers have it that the majority of the members-elect, including eight opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) wanted Hon. Oludaisi Elemide.

Again on Tuesday at exactly 10.41 am, the Clerk of the House, Deji Adeyanju, ordered everyone out of the Chambers and gallery over a security threat.

Adeyanju made the announcement, an hour after members-elect, journalists and other dignitaries had arrived at the Chambers for plenary.

Upon the announcement, police officers walked every person, including journalists out of the Assembly premises.

At the time of filing this report, security agents were seen the swopping machine in the Chambers as a security check, a situation which had stalled the Inauguration of the 10th Assembly.
