Bandits in the early hours of Saturday abducted a Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Mikah Suleiman in Zamfara State, New Telegraph reports.
Rev. Fr. Mikah, the parish priest of St. Raymond Catholic Church Damba, Gusau, was abducted at his Father’s rectory located within the church premises.
The Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, led by Bishop Mathew Hassan Kukah, issued a statement signed by the acting Chancellor, Very Revd. Fr. Nuhu Iliya confirmed the occurrence.

The Diocese voiced grave worry about the continued abduction of priests around the country.
Noting that the incident shows the escalating security issues encountered by religious communities, it serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and strengthened security measures to protect the lives and well-being of not only religious leaders but all Nigerians.
The Zamfara state police command are yet to issue an official statement on the incident as at the time of filling this report.
