JTF bursts 4 gunmen camps in Anambra

…recovers explosives, 3 stolen vehicles

The Joint Task Force on Security in Anambra State recorded a major success yesterday following the bursting of four gunmen camps in Ihiala Local Government Area.

Also, three suspected stolen vehicles believed to belong to alleged kidnap suspects as well as explosives and all kinds of locally fabricated explosives were recovered by the taskforce during its operations.

The communities where the gunmen camps were uncovered are Lilu, Ihiala, Mbosi and Isseke in Ihiala Local Government Area of the state.

According to a release by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochikwu Ikenga, the operation was based on the combined forces of all the sister security organizations.

Ikenga stated that the success was due to effective intelligence gathering.

He noted that the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, praised the operatives and reassured the public of the police’s commitment to combating crime.

“This operation demonstrates our resolve to protect citizens and ensure public safety,” CP Itam stated, adding, “we will continue to dominate and deny criminal elements the space to operate.”

The PPRO’s statement read in part: “Following the security intelligence gathered over time, the Joint Security Forces executed a planned and coordinated operation that dismantled a criminal camp in Lilu, Mbosi, and Isseke areas of Ihiala, recovering three unexploded improvised explosives, two abandoned vehicles, copper wires, fuel, and other dangerous materials.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, while urging the operatives to maintain the momentum of these operations, assured the good people of the state of the commitment of the police and other security agencies to continue to dominate and deny criminal elements the space they need to wreak havoc in the state.

“The joint operations are still ongoing, and further developments will be communicated.”he said.
