It’s too late to sack Rohr, Godwin Okpara tells NFF

Ex-international, Godwin Okpara, has said the Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr, should be allowed to continue his job with the team as the time between now and the start of the African Cup of Nations is too short to start changing the technical crew of the national team. Speaking with our correspondent, Okpara said the Nigeria Football federation could cause confusion with that arrangement.

“This is not the right time to do all these,” he said. “Apart from the fact that we have the AFCON almost here, we are still in the middle of World Cup qualifiers, so we don’t need all these distractions and confusion. “They should not bring confusion into the team. Let’s allow the coach to concentrate on the team. We know we must perform well at the AFCON and also qualify for the World Cup.”

The Super Eagles coach has come under criticism in recent months over the poor performances of his team. The NFF is still yet to do anything about the issue with Okpara already against the decision to relieve him of his post. The Super Eagles already qualified for the Africa Cup of Nations and are in the final round of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.
