ISWAP, B’Haram trying to establish camps in Shiroro, Borgu –Niger SSG

…we’ve spent over N5bn on security, others

Following the incessant attacks on various local government areas in the state, the Niger State Government has raised the alarm that the Islamic State’s West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Boko Haram are planning to establish camps in Shiroro and Borgu local government areas. It should be recalled that the Governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, had earlier in the year, disclosed the presence of Boko Haram in parts of Shiroro, where it has taken over 500 communities.

Making this disclosure to journalists at a briefing on Tuesday in Minna, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Alhaji Ahmed Matane, said the ISWAP group is responsible for the kidnap of the Dodo of Wawa. He added that, despite expending over N5 billion to tackle insecurity, the state and other states are still on their own because such amount is not enough to eradicate insecurity. He said: “Members of the ISWAP group are currently trying to establish a Caliphate around the Kainji National Park located in Borgu LGA.
