
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has expressed sadness over the demise of its Ogun State Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Mr Olaniyi Ijalaye.
New Telegraph had earlier reported that Ijalaye died on Monday after attending the regular quarterly meeting of the commission in Abuja.
In a statement by the commission’s National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr Sam Olumekun in Abuja on Tuesday, INEC commiserated with the immediate family of the deceased, praying to God to grant him eternal rest.

Ijalaye, who hailed from Owo, Ondo State, was born in 1958 and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) in 1982 and was called to the Nigerian Bar (BL) in 1983.
He also obtained a Master’s degree in Law (LLM) from the same university in 1995.
