INEC Assures Edo People Of Credible Guber Poll

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Mahmood Yakubu, yesterday assured the people of Edo State that the commission will conduct a credible, free and fair governorship election in September. He assured that the commission’s infrastructure and equipment damaged by flood last Friday would be repaired or replaced before the election.

Yakubu disclosed that since the governorship poll is an off-cycle election, the commission would also borrow equipment from neighbouring states to ensure a hitch-free exercise. He spoke in Benin City while on an inspection of the level of damage to facilities in the state office of the commission. He said he was also in the state to monitor the level of compliance with the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration.
