It was a breath-taking performance from Ikorodu City in one of the NPFL games played on Monday evening at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan Stadium, with the baby of the Nigeria Premier Football League beating Lobi Stars 4-2 to maintain their recent form.
After securing their first win of the season against Insurance of Benin last weekend, the Oga Boys secured a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Heartland in Owerri midweek despite playing with 10 men in some part of the game.
They however continued from where they left off, beating the visitor 4-2, scoring two goals in each half of the game. Ikorodu City didn’t allow their visitor to settle before scoring the opening goal in the 2nd minute of the first half and made it 2-0 before the 25th minute.
The team dropped their guard after the two goals allowing their opponent to score two added-time goals as the first half ended 2-2. They however returned with more vigor in the second half to score two goals as the game ended 4-2 for their second win of the season.
Speaking after the game, the manager of Lobi Stars, former international, Daniel Amokachi, said the team is still a work in progress as he only had four seasons with the team since taking over and they already played three matches in two weeks.
