Ijesa Traditional Council Begins Final Rites Of Oba Aromolaran

The traditional council of Ijesaland on Tuesday commenced the final rites of passage for the late paramount ruler, Oba Gabriel Aromolaran II who passed away last Thursday.

The monarch who ruled his people for 42 years joined his ancestors at the age of 87.

His passage prompted his chiefs and traditional rulers under his jurisdiction to declare a seven dust to dawn curfew which elapsed on Tuesday.

To round off the series of activities that had been scheduled as part of funeral rites, residents of the ancient town were told to stay at home by the council.

This is because of the need to observe the final Oro rites to round off his demise.

Video clip of events obtained by New Telegraph on Tuesday showed deserted streets as residents obeyed the order.

Members of the traditional Oro Cult were seen moving from one area of the ancient town to the other.
