Igbogbo Replaces Ihensekhien As Apc Leader In Igueben, Edo

As part of the efforts of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to make the party more viable and feasible in Igueben Local Government Area of Edo State, leaders of the party in the area have effected a change in the leadership of the party. At a meeting attended by the executive members of the party, leaders, stakeholders and party loyalists, over the weekend, a vote of no confidence was passed on Hon. Kenneth Ihensekhien as the party’s leader in the area.

Ihensekhien was subsequently re- moved and replaced with Sylvanus Igbogbo. It was stated that the action was taken after due consultation, and that the decision was unanimously taken by all relevant stakeholders that meant well for the growth of the party in the local government.

According to them: “The executives of the party, leaders and major stakeholders of the APC in Igueben Local Government area, after due consultations, met on Saturday June 10, 2023, and passed a vote of no confidence on Hon. Kenneth Ihensekhien, over the poor performance of the party in the LGA in the last general elections, poor leadership style, and for not being able to carry party members along among others.”

It was alleged that Ihenskhien’s unilateral decisions on sensitive matters has not only put the party in jeopardy, but has made the people that were interested in the party to change their minds. Speaking further, the party said: “Arising from the enumerated facts, the house resolved and nominated Hon.

Sylvanus Igbogbo, a pragmatic and visionary person, to lead our great party, APC in Igueben Local Government area.” Commenting on the matter, the State Secretary of the APC, Mr. Lawrance Okah, said that the party’s constitution does not recognize the position of leaders, adding that he wouldn’t want to get involved in the matter.

On his part, the embattled former leader in the area, said: “Who removed me? Who called the meeting, where was I removed. There is nothing of such please.” In his reaction to Ihenskhien and Okah’s statements, Igbogbo said: “Yes, the matter is not the affair of the state secretariat of the party. The stakeholders of the party in the area decide who leads them.

If Ihenskhien said that he is still the leader of the party in Igueben, I won’t argue with him. Probably he has one or two party members that he is leading, goodluck to him.”
