
A hit-and-run driver reportedly killed a female pedestrian on the Awka-Onitsha Expressway in Anambra State on Friday night, May 31.
Confirming the incident, the state Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Adeoye Irelewuyi told reporters in Awka on Saturday that the motorist fled the scene following the incident.
According to Irelewuyi, the most likely cause of the accident was overspeeding.

He reported that the collision involved an unnamed driver driving a Toyota Hiace commercial bus with no registration number on its way to Upper Iweke, Onitsha.
He also warned drivers against speeding, particularly during the wet season, urging them to obey speed restrictions.
