Emerging reports have revealed that the unisex Police uniform trousers are causing significant discomfort for officers, with reported issues including squashed testicles for men and thrush for women.
This health concern was revealed by a small internal survey conducted last year by the Gwent Police Federation, which identified medical problems linked to the design of the trousers.
Belinda Goodwin from the Police Federation of England and Wales revealed that the survey led to a national uniform and equipment study by Lancaster University, which has recently concluded.

The research made known that poor workwear design issues are widespread across various emergency service professions.
Goodwin criticized the decision to standardize uniforms as unisex, suggesting it was an outdated cost-saving measure rather than a thoughtful decision aimed at gender equality.
She noted that the current trousers do not accommodate the different body shapes and sizes of men and women, leading to significant fit issues.
Goodwin emphasized that the lack of proper uniform investment reflects a broader disregard for the needs of officers, impacting their physical and mental well-being.
She advocates for a larger uniform budget to address these issues and improve the comfort and morale of police officers. Gwent Police declined to comment on the matter.
