Gunmen reportedly shot a man to death at the Okokomaiko area of Lagos State. The victim, a 20-year-old man, (name withheld), was said to have been chased to his parent’s house where he was shot multiple times by the gunmen after which they escaped.
It was learnt that the killing of the victim created a lot of tension and commotion in the community.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement yesterday said on Friday, September 6, at about 9: 30pm, information was received from concerned members of the public that at Abeokuta Street, Okokomaiko area, gunmen killed a man in the community Hundeyin said four unidentified gunmen were seen chasing a young man in the community and he was later shot multiple times.
“The victim was shot on the head, stomach and leg. The gunmen made sure he died before they left the scene and abandoned the remains of the deceased and escaped to unknown destination immediately after committing the act, the information about the murder led police operatives to the scene.
“When the anti-crime policemen got to the scene, they met one Vivian, who happened to be the mother of the deceased and she identified the victim as her son who lived with her in the same address, while the corpse was deposited at the Military Hospital mortuary at Yaba, and investigation is ongoing on the matter.”
He however said efforts is in progress towards tracing the fleeing suspects for possible arrest and prosecution, while the case has been transferred for further discreet investigation.
