Guber Poll: Litigation Against Ighodalo Mere Distraction – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday said the reaffirmation of the nomination of Dr Asue Ighodalo by the Court of Appeal as its candidate in the September 21 Edo State governorship election, showed that the litigation against him was aimed at frustrating his aspiration.

PDP in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, also said that the award of cost against the appellants in favour of Ighodalo and other respondents was a kind of judicial rebuke against frivolous and vexatious court proceedings aimed at frustrating the outcome of a legally conducted democratic exercise of a political party.

“Our party notes that with the verdict of the high court and the reaffirmation by the Appeal Court, both in favour of the PDP and its candidate, it is clear that Dr Asue Ighodalo was duly and rightfully nominated as candidate,” the party said.

The party also described the judgement as another landmark saying that; “It further strengthens democratic practice, validates the credibility of the PDP nomination process and reinforces the will and aspiration of the people of Edo State as embodied in the candidature of Dr Asue Ighodalo.”
