A group known as “Tazarce Solidarity” has issued stern warning against individuals attempting to sabotage the incumbent President of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Plateau State, Comrade Makwin Arandong.
New Telegraph repports that the warning is coming ahead of the 17th September 2024 NULGE delegates conference in Jos, Plateau State capital.
The Director-General of the Arandong Campaign Organization, Comrade Hillary Shown issued the warning during a press briefing at the NUJ Secretariat in Jos.
Shown responded to allegations made by a faction of NULGE members led by Comrade Izere Maxwell Igyem, who accused Arandong of hijacking the election process and financial misappropriation.
Shown described the allegations as baseless and false, stating that those making the accusations were part of a peace and reconciliation meeting held at the NULGE national secretariat on August 28, 2024.
He emphasized that an agreement was reached and a memorandum of understanding signed regarding the conduct of the forthcoming Plateau State NULGE election.
The pro-Arandong group warned that unsubstantial accusations against Arandong would no longer be tolerated.
The campaign DG explained that the screening of contestants in the election was a necessary process and that disqualifications were made in line with the Union’s constitution.
While speaking regarding the financial misappropriation scandal, Shown dismissed the allegations as laughable, stating that the Federal Housing Mortgage Bank deducts 2.5% of staff monthly basic salary for loan schemes, which many staff members have benefited from.
The Tazarce Solidarity group vowed to resist any attempts to sabotage Arandong’s leadership and the upcoming NULGE delegates conference.
