The Middle Belt Youth Organisation (MYDEVO) has called on government bodies, individuals, and corporate organizations to prioritise sports development as a crucial unifying factor.
The group emphasizes that sports can foster development, cohesion, and unity while reducing youth restiveness, insecurity, and ethnic, religious, and political differences when effectively utilized.
In an interview with newsmen in Lafia, the General Secretary of MYDEVO, Jerry Peleng, highlighted the lack of sports encouragement as a significant factor contributing to the increasing insecurity, lack of harmony, and underdevelopment in the Middle Belt region.
Peleng announced that MYDEVO is set to stage a sports competition as a vital tool for unity, development, and cohesion among communities in the region.
He stated, “To realise and sustain the dreams of our founding fathers for the region, MYDEVO is organising a football competition and empowerment program titled:
‘Tinubu Youth for Greater Nigeria: Maiden Edition of Soccer Compe – tition and Empowerment Program in the Region.”
