Gravenberch React To Transfer Rumours

Ryan Gravenberch has insisted that he is “not going to give up easily” on Bayern Munich and assumes he will still be playing for the club next season.

Gravenberch joined Bayern from Ajax last summer but the 21-year-old wasn’t a regular starter under Julian Nagelsmann or Thomas Tuchel as he registered just 560 minutes of action in the Bundesliga last season.

His lack of playing time prompted speculation about his future, with Liverpool heavily linked towards the end of the season.

But that transfer talk appears to have quietened down now, and Gravenberch says he now expects to remain with the Bundesliga champions this summer.

“I assume that I will still play at Bayern next season. That’s really how I feel about it,” the Dutch international told Newsmen

“I’m at a top three club in the world. I think that’s beautiful and special. I’m not going to give up easily. My goal is still to succeed at Bayern.”

Before joining Bayern, Gravenberch came through the youth system at Ajax and became the youngest player to play in the Eredivisie when he made his debut at 16, breaking a record previously held by Clarence Seedorf.

He went on to play over 100 games for Ajax, meaning he is well-placed to comment on the differences between Dutch and German football.

“It’s incredible to see how players literally give everything here. Players (in Germany) run much more than in Eredivisie,” he said.

“Football is also very popular in Germany. The atmosphere is beautiful. I also liked that in the Netherlands, but it’s a different level here.”

Gravenberch is currently representing his country in the U21 European Championships, but he insists he will report for pre-season with Bayern at the earliest opportunity to give himself the best chance of being ready for the new season.

“We start on July 13. The Super Cup awaits less than a month later,” he added.

“I know this is going to be a crucial year for me. That’s why I want to be there from the first training session.”
