FRSC Confirms Seven Die In Ogun Road Accident

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC)  has confirmed that at least seven persons died in an auto crash which occurred at Ogere area of Ogun State.

New Telegraph reports that the crash which occurred at about 9:33 pm on Monday involved 18 persons.

Speaking on the incident, the spokesperson of the FRSC Ogun sector command, Florence Okpe, said the accident involved a truck with no registration number and a Mazda bus registered as MNY894YN.

Okpe explained that the accident was caused by excessive speed on the part of the Mazda bus driver who rammed on a moving truck from the rear.

She said “A total of 18 persons were involved which comprised 15 male adult and 3 female adult. 11 people were injured 9 male adults and 2 female adults while 7 Persons were recorded dead from the crash, five male and two female.”

The injured victims were taken to Patmag Hospital Ogere for medical attention, while the corpses were deposited at FOS morgue Ipara, according to Okpe.

However, Sector Commander Anthony Uga recommended vehicles to maintain reasonable speeds, especially at night and in the rain.

He extended his sympathies to the families of the crash victims and urged passengers to remain watchful in order to correct driver errors.
