The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Enugu State Sector Command has confirmed that four people were killed in a horrific car accident on the Ugwu Onyeama axis of the Enugu-Onitsha Federal Highway.
Confirming the development on Wednesday, Adeyemi Sokunbi, Sector Commander of the FRSC Enugu State Command on Wednesday in Enugu State.
Sokunbi stated that the accident occurred between 6:45 pm and 7 pm on June 11, when a kerosene-laden trailer lost control and collided with six other vehicles.
He stated that two of the 29 people involved in the tragic tragedy died instantaneously, while two more died in the hospital.
Sokunbi stated that the FRSC used the corps’ Intensive Care Unit (ICU) ambulance and other vehicles to transport the ten injured to the National Orthopaedic Hospital in Enugu.
He further stated that the deceased were transported to the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital (ESUT) Park Lane in Enugu, where they were placed at the morgue.

The commander said some of the victim’s belongings were found at the scene of the tragedy.
According to him, the kerosene-laden truck lost control and collided with six other vehicles on the repaired portion of the Enugu-Onitsha Federal Highway, including cars and a bus.
He said: “We are thanking God that the truck that failed break was not conveying petrol, which is extremely inflammable.
“Motorists and all road users in general, have to be very careful on the road.
“We advise that all should put their vehicle in order and at an optimal condition before setting out on journeys.
“You cannot afford to put a mechanically deficient vehicle on the road to cause harm to many others using the same road,” he added.
