Four Die In Bayelsa Road Accident

No fewer than four persons were on Monday confirmed dead as a Toyota Sienna driving along the newly constructed Yenagoa/Oporoma Road collided head-on with a tricycle.

Eyewitness account revealed that the Toyota Sienna was driving in the direction of Oporoma while the tricycle was returning to Yenagoa after seven o’clock in the evening when the accident occurred.

The victims included the driver of the tricycle and the passengers while none of the occupants of the Sienna sustained any injuries.

New Telegraph gathered that heavy rainfall and poor visibility could have contributed to the accident a scene of several previous accidents.

According to him, it took some time before residents responded to the emergency due to the rain and growing darkness.

It would be recalled that Bayelsa State had a banned the operations of tricycles beyond 7.00pm, but it is usual for some tricyclists to operate beyond the ban especially outside the state capital, Yenagoa.

When contacted on the development the Police Public Relations Officer, Musa Mohammed, said he was not aware of the incident.
