Recognising the challenges of food insecurity in the country, a non-governmental organisation, Lifecrown Foundation, has unveiled plans to hold a Food Bonanza Day as part of activities for its 10th-anniversary celebration.
Aimed at making essential food items, including rice, beans, oil, eggs, spaghetti, sachet tomatoes, and garri, available at the subsidised rate of N1000, this initiative, according to the foundation, is to ensure that a paint bucket of rice, beans, and garri, along with other essential items, is accessible to those in need.
The President of Lifecrown Foundation, Bola Oyelami, in a statement, said the Food Bonanza Day will hold on Sunday, November 16, 2024, at Layi Arikewuyo Ten Family, Abraham Adesanya, Ajah, Lagos State, Nigeria, stressing that, “This milestone marks a decade of unwavering commitment to fostering Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Nigeria, specifically focusing on Healthcare (SDG 3), Education (SDG 4), and Women Empowerment (SDG 5).
“We are looking forward to feeding over 1000 people that day.”
She added that since its inception in 2014, “Lifecrown Foundation has been dedicated to empowering women, alleviating poverty, providing quality education for the underprivileged, and offering healthcare services through various outreaches.
“Our notable achievements include establishing two schools in Lepia and Ode-Omi, partnering with New Song Children Christian School in Akwaita, Nasarawa State, and successfully graduating five sets of students to secondary school. Additionally, we have conducted numerous healthcare outreaches and poverty alleviation programs, distributing essential items such as clothing and food.”
“Let us heed the words of Franklin D. Roosevelt: ‘The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.'”
