FOCAC Summit: Tinubu Urges Global Collaboration As China Pledges $50bn For Africa

President Bola Tinubu has emphasized the need for global collaboration and non-interference in politics to ensure shared prosperity at the 2024 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Summit in Beijing, the People’s Republic of China.

Speaking at the Great Hall, President Tinubu highlighted the success of the China-Africa partnership as a model for sustainable development, driven by mutual respect and common goals.

Nigerian President, however, called for continued peaceful dialogue and transparent business practices to further strengthen the bond between the two regions.

New Telegraph had earlier reported that President Xi Jinping of China announced $50 billion in financial support and $280 million in aid for Africa.

Xi outlined a 10-point action plan to advance China-Africa modernization efforts, promising RMB360 billion yuan in financial support over the next three years.

He also proposed elevating China-Africa relations to the level of a strategic all-weather partnership.

President Tinubu praised the long-standing partnership, which has seen trade between Africa and China reach $280 billion, and noted the alignment between China’s Belt and Road Initiative and Africa’s infrastructure goals.
